About GetEasyQR

Free, private QR code tools that run entirely in your browser — no subscription, no sign-up, no hidden fees.

Who built this

GetEasyQR is built and maintained by Kerron Gordon, an IT Instructor and Network Technician based in the Caribbean. Kerron has spent years teaching networking concepts and helping small businesses and individuals get more from their technology — including how to use QR codes effectively in real-world settings like classrooms, clinics, restaurants, and events.

The frustration with existing QR code tools came directly from teaching: every free generator recommended online either required a sign-up, defaulted to dynamic codes that expired after a trial period, or charged ongoing fees just to keep printed codes working. Students and small-business owners on limited budgets deserved something better.

Why GetEasyQR exists

The catalyst was a specific, recurring problem. A community group printed flyers for an event using a QR code from a popular free generator. Three days after the event began, the codes stopped scanning. The 14-day trial had expired. Reactivating would cost $15 a month — for a code already printed on hundreds of physical flyers that couldn't be recalled.

That's not a rare edge case. It happens constantly to people who don't know the difference between a static and a dynamic QR code, or who don't read the fine print of "free" tools. The subscription model for QR codes works by obscuring this distinction until after users are invested.

GetEasyQR was built to be the opposite. Every code it generates is static — the data is embedded directly in the image. No server. No subscription. No expiry. The code printed today works the same in ten years.

What makes this different

Most QR code tools on the market share a common architecture: you enter your data, it goes to their server, their server generates the code, and you download it. In the case of vCard or WiFi codes, this means your contact details and network passwords pass through a third-party server. For dynamic codes, every scan is routed through that same server and logged.

GetEasyQR generates codes entirely in the browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. When you enter your WiFi password, it never leaves your device. When you enter contact information for a vCard code, it's processed locally and encoded directly into the PNG that downloads to your machine. We never see it, store it, or transmit it.

This architecture isn't just a privacy benefit — it also means the tool works faster (no round-trip to a server), works offline once the page has loaded, and has no infrastructure costs that require a subscription model to cover.

The tools available

GetEasyQR currently offers three QR code generators, covering the most common practical use cases:

  • WiFi QR codes — encode your network SSID and password so guests can join with a single scan. Supports WPA, WPA2, WPA3, and open networks. Your password never leaves your device.
  • vCard QR codes — encode your contact details (name, title, company, phone, email, website) in the standard VCF format that iOS and Android both recognise natively. One scan adds the contact without any typing.
  • WhatsApp QR codes — generate a direct-message link to any WhatsApp number, with an optional pre-filled message. Used by businesses to make it easier for customers to start a conversation.

All three generators export a 1024 × 1024 pixel lossless PNG — sharp enough to print on everything from a business card to an A3 poster without quality loss.

The resource library

Beyond the tools themselves, GetEasyQR maintains a growing library of guides on QR code use, design, and implementation. These are written from practical experience — what actually works in the field, not just theory:

How the site is funded

GetEasyQR is free to use and generates no revenue from the tools themselves. Hosting, domain registration, and development time are funded by standard display advertising through Google AdSense. Ads appear as banners on the page — no pop-ups, no interstitials, no auto-playing video. The tools themselves are entirely ad-free in the sense that no ad-related scripts run until cookie consent is given.

For more information on how advertising cookies work on this site, see the Privacy Policy.

Our commitments

  • No mandatory accounts or sign-up gates — the tools work without an email address.
  • No storing or transmitting the data you enter into any generator.
  • No artificially degraded downloads or watermarked outputs to push upgrades.
  • Always static, permanent QR codes — your printed materials never expire.
  • No dark patterns, misleading defaults, or hidden subscription traps.
